Not ready to let go of your pretty Christmas decorations? These glitter mason jars are the perfect way to usher some pretty winter flair into your home.
Hello, 2017! This time of year is bittersweet. Saying goodbye to holiday seasons and Christmas fun makes me sad, but the opportunity to start fresh with a brand new year is so inspiring. Of course, nothing tends to change overnight. I like to spend the next few weeks reflecting on all of the great things that happened in 2016 and use that to guide my resolutions in 2017. More on that later.
If you are like me, however, and get sad when it comes time to pack up the Christmas décor, then these easy DIY mason jars will be perfect for you. Not only are they sparkly and fun, but they take mere seconds to make.
- Empty mason jars (or jars that are similar in structure); another great thing about this project is that you can grab any of the misfit jars around your house and glitter them up!
- Mod Podge
- Glitter, glitter, and more glitter! Seriously, you’d rather have too much than not enough. Hobby Lobby has several colors from which to choose the best shade for you.
- Sponge brush
As stated earlier, it does not get easier than this craft! I threw these together late one night in a matter of minutes!
- Mix together a small amount of Mod Podge and water. Spread this mixture on the inside of the mason jar using your sponge brush. You want to try and coat the inside of the jar as evenly as possible, while still making sure that the inside stays very wet.
- While the glue/water mixture is still wet, throw in some glitter. Swish it around, moving from the bottom of the jar to the top. If it seems like you don’t have enough glitter to cover the entire inside of the jar, add some more glitter toward the top.
See! It could not get easier! Leave up some white lights, and you have the makings of a wintry wonderland! I liked using the blue glitter because it went well with my snowman/snowflake décor. Just because the holidays are over doesn’t mean the decorating must end! There are several creative ways to bring the beauty of winter into your home! Happy 2017 to all!
